This one-way expedition is full of scenic views and paddling adventures as you navigate through the 1000 Islands between Gananoque and Brockville.
The 1000 Islands region is an integral part of the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserve, a member of the UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves. As well, the 1000 Islands National Park consists of about 120 of the islands where research is done on the local environment so we can preserve this local treasure. They have also made several of these islands available to the public so that campers can enjoy the experience of the islands.
Each day after a hearty breakfast you will paddle to different destinations, exploring the sights along the way. You will experience the natural beauty of your surroundings, and see some of the beautiful properties on the private islands. There is even a castle on one of the islands you can see as you paddle by!
You will experience different water conditions, including some stronger currents near the international boundary between the US and Canada. We have expert guides who know the area and will navigate the waterway with you to ensure the best possible experience. Please note that on certain days you will cover a longer distance so it is important you have some kayaking experience and are comfortable to be in your kayak for longer periods.
Each evening you will set up camp at a different location on one of the National Park islands or a nearby campground. After a swim and a home-cooked meal, you can sit by the campfire to share the day’s stories.
At the end of the expedition, you will be transported back to the starting point to pick up your car, and perhaps enjoy some of the nearby local restaurants and accommodations before you head home.
This expedition is limited to 8 participants. So book your adventure early to ensure you have a spot.
